Look for the purple seats at Coors Field. One row among the green marks a mile above sea level, giving Denver's best-known nickname a place in the seating chart. It is a small detail in a large ballpark, and a good one to point out before the game begins.
There is plenty of Denver outside, too. Coors Field sits in Lower Downtown, usually called LoDo, where a baseball afternoon can start at Union Station and carry on through streets full of places to eat. The walk into the game feels like part of the visit.
Find Denver in the upper deck
The purple row sits at 5,280 feet. From that part of the park, the spread of the field becomes a pleasure of its own: you can watch runners take their leads, outfielders move between batters, and a play develop well away from the ball.
Altitude also helps explain why baseball here has its own habits. The thin air affects how the ball travels, and the roomy outfield gives fielders plenty of ground to cover. Keep an eye on the gaps as well as the fences.

Start at Union Station

The Helton Burger is one of the park's familiar food choices. Its name is a small reminder that ballpark meals can belong to a team as much as to a city. For a group that wants to meet before taking separate seats, the Rooftop above right field offers standing space, food, and a wide view.
Treat that as a different way to spend part of the day. You can enjoy the conversation up there, then return to your own place when you want to follow an inning closely.

The dinosaur has a reason to be here
Dinger, the Rockies' purple dinosaur, has a local backstory: workers found a dinosaur rib fragment while excavating the ballpark site. It is a wonderfully specific explanation for a mascot, especially in a state where prehistoric discoveries are part of the landscape.
If someone in your group came mainly for the baseball and someone else came mainly for the dinosaur, Coors Field leaves plenty for both to enjoy.
