What counts as a stadium's age?
The ranking uses the year the current building opened. The age is 2026 minus that opening year, so it describes the park's age during the 2026 season rather than an exact birthday on a given date.
A ballpark and its current MLB tenant do not always start together. The separate team column keeps that difference visible instead of making an older building look new when an MLB club arrives later.
The oldest MLB stadiums in 2026
Fenway Park leads the list. It opened in 1912 and reaches a season-age of 114 in 2026. Wrigley Field opened in 1914, though the Cubs did not move there until 1916. Dodger Stadium, opened in 1962, is third oldest.
The gap after Wrigley is large: Dodger Stadium opened 48 years later. Angel Stadium and Kauffman Stadium are the only other current buildings that opened before 1980.
The newest MLB stadium in 2026
Globe Life Field is the newest current MLB stadium building. It opened with the Texas Rangers in 2020. Truist Park, opened in 2017, and loanDepot park, opened in 2012, are next newest.
Sutter Health Park is the newest park to join the current MLB set, but not the newest building. It opened as Raley Field in 2000 and became the Athletics' temporary home in 2025.
